New 2017 Surfboard Graphics Unveiled!
Carlsbad, CA.—Superbrand is proud to announce the unveiling of eleven all new surfboard graphics for 2017 along with three new surfboard models. Contributors include renowned surf photographer Brian Bielmann, Surfer Magazine Art Director Donny Stevens, Oregon based artist Adam Garcia, Superbrand apparel designer Jason West, and Superbrand rider and founder Dion Agius.
Inspired by the skateboard world, Superbrand has always been on the forefront of surfboard graphics. “The guys we worked with on the 2017 surfboard graphics come from all backgrounds and walks of life,” says Superbrand Marketing Director Justin Coté. “The truly eclectic nature of these artists is reflected in the graphics. Some reflect patterns found in our apparel, and a few are just out there and fun,” he adds.
The graphics are printed on lightweight polyester fabric, which is laid on top of a shaped blank before the glassing process. While it adds more time and labor to the building process, the extra work pays off when a board comes out of the Carlsbad, California surfboard factory as a functioning piece of art.
Of the eleven boards in the 2017 Superbrand surfboard line, three are new; the Spam, Pug, and Bigfoot. Each has its own identity, ideal type of rider, conditions it should be ridden in, and graphic.
The first batches of 2017 Superbrand surfboards with new graphics went out to Surf Ride (Oceanside and Solana Beach) and ZJ’s Boarding House in Los Angeles, and more racks across the world are being filled now.
